D.O./MBA in Health Care Leadership

KCUMB’s College of Osteopathic Medicine students have the opportunity to study the complexities of healthcare leadership and management through an innovative dual degree partnership with one of the nation’s leading business schools – Rockhurst University’s Helzberg School of Management.

KCUMB students attend classes, specially designed by Rockhurst faculty, on the Rockhurst campus and earn a master of business administration degree in healthcare leadership upon graduation.

The Rockhurst M.B.A. in Healthcare Leadership is designed to complement KCUMB students' osteopathic medical education by developing physician-managers with the business and leadership skills necessary to provide quality holistic care.

The program, which is unique among U.S. medical schools, is focused on making future physicians conversant in “the language of business,” and teaching them how business practices and processes work together to create efficient managerial systems.

M.B.A. coursework is fully and carefully integrated into the existing KCUMB curriculum. Dual-degree students complete both programs on time and graduate with other members of their KCUMB class.

M.B.A. coursework begins during the summer between KCUMB students' first and second years of medical school. Students do not take courses in both programs simultaneously, except for two distance-learning M.B.A. electives during the final two years of their clinical rotations.
